Staying at Capitol Hill Hotel is the ideal location to explore all the family-friendly activities DC has to offer, from America’s historic landmarks and museums to the diverse restaurants and cafes of Capitol Hill to Washington DC’s many local boutiques and shops.

One of the reasons why Washington, DC is so kid friendly is the number of free activities for families to explore without spending a dime!  DC has over 160 monuments and memorials to visit – the most popular ones include the Washington Monument, Jefferson, Lincoln and FDR memorials and the memorials dedicated to the soldiers that served in WWI, WWII, Vietnam and Korea. Visiting the White House is also free but you need to plan in advance to request a tour with your local congressman or senator.

Some of the district’s best museum for kids are also free thanks to the expansive and impressive Smithsonian Institute.   The kid-focused exhibits and programming can be found at:

The DC Metro also makes it easy to take the little ones around town for a day of sightseeing by allowing up to two children under the age of four to ride free with each paying adult. It beats looking for parking as you jump around town!
