Best Places to Ride a Bike in DC

Others
iStock_000007662222_Small It’s warm outside, and we are ready to cruise around this eclectic and vibrant city on two wheels. When staying with us, be sure to grab one of our complimentary Capitol Hill Bikes and take it for a ride to these favorite locations:

The National Mall

Located just a few blocks from the Capitol Hill Hotel, the National Mall is DC’s most iconic stretch of land. The two-mile run of monuments and memorials makes a surprisingly long walk, especially when you want to see the sites on both north and south sides of the long expanse. Biking makes the distances more manageable, so hop on your cruiser and swing past the White House, Washington Monument and Smithsonian with the wind in your face.

Georgetown Waterfront

Take a spin along the Georgetown Waterfront for sprawling views of the Potomac River and Arlington, VA. The waterfront is also an easy starting point for exploring neighborhood staples like M Street and Georgetown University.

Anacostia Riverwalk Trail

Beginning at National’s Park, the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail overlooks the east side of DC and takes you to the Washington Navy Yard. Continue  up to the John Philip Sousa Bridge and cross the Anacostia River explore the little-visited Southeast Washington.

Potomac Parks

Located just across the Tidal Basin and Washington Channel from the National Mall, the Potomac Parks offer unparalleled views of the District. Head south from the Lincoln Memorial and cruise from West Potomac Park past the Jefferson Memorial to its sister park. From there, you can head to Hains Point for views of the Anacostia and Potomac rivers meeting, or across the 14th Street Bridge to Arlington.

Embassy Row

Just north of Georgetown, Embassy Row is a grand stretch of Massachusetts Avenue where scores of countries keep their diplomatic envoys to the U.S. Most of the embassies are in historic mansions, so it makes for a great bike ride.  It’s also a good sight to tack onto visits to Dupont Circle, or Adams Morgan.

"We stayed at the Capitol Hill Hotel for 3 nights and LOVED our stay there! Staff was very accommodating, pleasant, and considerate!
